Tick the boxes: the real widget and script

These are the actual published outputs of the widget with its script running: the default checklist, a styled lesson checklist with strike-through, a packing list with icons and no count, and your own count and reset wording.

02 / Inside WordPress

Visitor checklist controls in Elementor

Content › Checklist items is a repeater of items you write. Behaviour turns on the completed count with your own wording and the reset button with its text. Display sets the heading and its tag, an accessible name when there is no heading, and an optional icon before each item. The Style tab covers the heading, item typography, alignment, spacing, padding, radius, checkbox size and accent colour, completed colour and strike-through, Hover and Focus states, the count and the reset button's Normal, Hover and Focus styles.

03 / Website use cases

Where to use visitor checklist

Tutorials, event pages and onboarding guides often list steps that readers want to tick off as they go, but a plain bullet list can't be checked and a full to-do app is overkill. Visitor checklist adds real, labelled checkboxes with a live count and a reset button, and keeps the ticks in the page only, with no storage, accounts or tracking.

Elementor Icon List

Icon List shows a static list with icons. Use it when nothing needs ticking; use this widget when visitors should check items off.

Form plugins

A form with checkboxes collects and stores answers. This widget stores nothing and sends nothing, so it needs no privacy notice for the ticks.

07 / Requirements and compatibility

Visitor checklist compatibility with Elementor

WordPress 6.5+PHP 8.0+Elementor 3.25+
  • Requires Elementor.
  • Ticks last for the current page view only; no saving or syncing.
  • Up to 100 plain-text items per checklist.

Complementor uses classic Elementor APIs. Atomic-native controls are not implemented. Check your theme, cache and integrations on a staging site before release.

08 / Common setup problems

Troubleshoot visitor checklist

Check these settings if the published page behaves differently from the editor.

Why are the ticks gone after I reload?

Ticks are kept only for the current page view. Some browsers restore them when you go back; the count updates to match.

Why don't I see the count or Reset button?

They appear once the widget's script runs, and only when turned on in Behaviour.

Why is the checklist empty on the site?

All items are empty. Add at least one item with text.

Can I link an item to a page?

No. Items are plain text so that the whole label ticks the box.

09 / Frequently asked questions

Visitor checklist plugin questions

Are ticks saved or tracked?

No. Nothing is stored in cookies, local storage or the database, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Does it need Elementor Pro?

No. It works with the free version of Elementor.

Is it accessible?

Yes. It uses native checkboxes with labels, a named group, a visible focus outline and a polite live count.

Can visitors add their own items?

No. Items are written by you in the editor.

How heavy is the script?

It is a small script with no dependencies that only updates the count and handles Reset.
