Username policy checker controls in Elementor

Username rules sets the length, the separators allowed, letters from any alphabet, the first character, separator placement, lowercase, reserved names and the starting name. Behaviour sets whether passed rules show, the suggestion and live checking. Labels names the field, the rules, the suggestion and the note. The Style tab covers the layout, the rule colours, the field and the buttons.

03 / Website use cases

Where to use username policy checker

Sign-up forms often reject a username with a vague error after the form is sent, and visitors guess again. Username policy checker lists the rules for your site next to the field and marks each one met or not as the visitor types: length, allowed characters, the first character, separators, lowercase and reserved names. It names the characters that are not allowed and suggests a close name that meets every rule.

  • Shows and checks rules in the browser; it does not check availability or replace server-side validation.

08 / Common setup problems

Troubleshoot username policy checker

Check these settings if the published page behaves differently from the editor.

Why does my name fail with no visible problem?

It contains a hidden character, such as a zero-width space. The rule lists it by its code, such as U+200B.

Why is there no suggestion?

No close name meets every rule, for example when the name is too short. Add characters to reach the minimum length.

Does it check my registration form?

No. It shows the rules to visitors; your sign-up form still enforces them on the server.

09 / Frequently asked questions

Username policy checker plugin questions

Does it need Elementor Pro?

No. It works with the free version of Elementor.

Does it check whether a name is taken?

No. It checks the rules only. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can names use other alphabets?

Yes. Turn on letters from any alphabet to allow names such as Ελένη or 山田太郎.

Are reserved names case-sensitive?

No. Admin, ADMIN and ad_min all match a reserved admin.

Can I list only the rules a name breaks?

Yes. Turn off the rules that pass in Behaviour.
