Skip to content link controls in Elementor

Content sets the target ID, the link text, whether it is hidden until Tab or always visible, and where it appears. The Style tab covers the link in its normal, hover and focus states.

03 / Website use cases

Where to use skip to content link

Keyboard and screen reader users have to tab through every menu item on every page before they reach the content. A skip link fixes that, but a hand-made one often fails: the target is missing, focus stays at the top, or the link is never visible. Skip to content link is a real link that moves focus to the target, falls back to the page’s main element, hides itself when there is nowhere to go and appears only when a keyboard user needs it.

A hand-made anchor link

Often leaves focus at the top or points at a missing ID.

07 / Requirements and compatibility

Skip to content link compatibility with Elementor

WordPress 6.5+PHP 8.0+Elementor 3.25+
  • Requires Elementor; works without WooCommerce.
  • Adds one skip link per widget; it does not fix the order of other links.
  • Nothing is sent to your server.

Complementor uses classic Elementor APIs. Atomic-native controls are not implemented. Check your theme, cache and integrations on a staging site before release.

08 / Common setup problems

Troubleshoot skip to content link

Check these settings if the published page behaves differently from the editor.

I cannot see the link on the published page.

It is hidden until a keyboard user presses Tab. Choose Always visible to show it all the time.

Tab reaches other links first.

Move the widget to the very top of the page or header template.

The link disappeared.

No element has the ID and the page has no main element. Check the ID; the editor explains this.

Does Hello Elementor already have one?

Yes, to #content when its skip link is on. Use this widget on other templates or for other sections.

09 / Frequently asked questions

Skip to content link plugin questions

Does it need Elementor Pro?

No. It works with the free version of Elementor.

Does it work without JavaScript?

Yes. It is a normal link; JavaScript only makes the focus move reliable.

Is it accessible?

Yes. That is its purpose: it is focusable, visible on focus and moves focus to the content.

Does it change the address bar?

No. With JavaScript it moves focus without adding #content to the address.

Can I use it more than once on a page?

Yes. Each copy works on its own.
