Blog sidebars
Show the latest articles next to every post.

List the newest published posts as a simple list of links, optionally from one category and with dates, leaving out the post being read.
These are the actual published outputs of the widget on a sample post.
Content sets the content type, category, number of posts, whether the current post is left out, dates, list type, the empty text and an icon. The Style tab covers the list layout, spacing and lines, the titles and their hover colour, the dates and the icon.
Blogs and news pages need a short "latest posts" list in a sidebar or footer, but a full posts grid is heavy for that, and a basic list often shows an old sticky post first or links to the page the reader is already on. Recent public posts lists the newest published, passwordless posts as plain links, optionally from one category and with their dates, leaves out the current post and ignores sticky ordering.
