03 / Website use cases

Where to use manual data bar chart

Reports, case studies and about pages often need to compare a handful of numbers, and a full charting library is more than they need. This widget turns labels and numbers you type in into a horizontal bar chart built from plain HTML: a title saying what it shows, the value with its unit at the end of each bar, largest-first or smallest-first order, a fixed scale for percentages, one bar picked out to make the point, and a source note.

08 / Common setup problems

Troubleshoot manual data bar chart

Check these settings if the published page behaves differently from the editor.

Why is a bar missing?

It has no label or its value is below 0; the editor says how many rows were left out.

Why are all bars full length?

“Full bar equals” is smaller than your values; empty it to scale to the largest value.

Why do the labels sit above the bars?

The chart is narrow, such as on a phone, so labels move above the bars to leave room.
