03 / Website use cases

Where to use greatest common divisor

Simplifying fractions, cutting materials into equal pieces and maths homework all need the greatest common divisor, also called the highest common factor. Greatest common divisor sits on your own page: visitors type two or more whole numbers and see the GCD, Euclid's steps and each number divided by the GCD, all updated as they type. Nothing is sent anywhere.

08 / Common setup problems

Troubleshoot greatest common divisor

Check these settings if the published page behaves differently from the editor.

Why does “1,000, 5” give an odd result?

Commas separate numbers, so 1,000 is read as 1 and 000. Type numbers without thousands separators.

Why are some steps missing?

Euclid's steps are listed up to 40 lines; a final line says how many more there were.

Why is a negative number shown as positive?

The GCD is never negative, so numbers are treated as positive.

Why does “0, 0” show a message?

Every number divides 0, so there is no greatest one. Enter at least one number other than 0.

09 / Frequently asked questions

Greatest common divisor plugin questions

Does it need Elementor Pro?

No. It works with the free version of Elementor.

Yes. Greatest common divisor, highest common factor and greatest common factor are the same thing.

How many numbers can visitors enter?

From two to 20, each with up to 30 digits.

Is the result exact for large numbers?

Yes. Whole-number maths is exact, with no rounding.
