Where to use variation price tax note

When sizes or versions of a product fall into different tax classes, such as a reduced VAT rate, shoppers cannot tell from the price alone what tax it includes. Variation price tax note states whether the shown price includes or excludes tax for the option they pick, with the rate from your WooCommerce tax settings if you like.

Troubleshoot variation price tax note

Check these settings if the published page behaves differently from the editor.

Why is {rate} empty?

No tax rate matches the option’s tax class for your store’s base address. Add one in WooCommerce › Settings › Tax.

Why does it say includes tax when my prices exclude it?

The note follows Display prices in the shop under WooCommerce › Settings › Tax. Check that setting.

Why does nothing show?

Taxes are off or the product’s tax status is None, and the text for when tax does not apply is empty.

Why does the rate differ from the checkout?

The note uses your store’s base address; the checkout can use the customer’s address if your tax settings say so.
