Where to use product image alternative text
Good alternative text describes a product photo in words, but only screen reader users and search engines see it, and shop owners rarely notice when it is missing. Product image alternative text shows it as visible text, for example as a photo note, and in the editor tells you when the main product image has none.

How to show image alternative text in Elementor
Start with Complementor installed and your license connected. Enable this module in the WordPress library, then configure it in Elementor.
Install Complementor, connect your license and enable Product image alternative text in the Complementor library.
Add alternative text to the product image in the Media Library.
Add the widget under the photo, or choose a product.
Add a text before, if you like.
Style it and check a product.

Troubleshoot product image alternative text
Check these settings if the published page behaves differently from the editor.
Why is nothing shown?
The main product image has no alternative text, or there is no image.
Will screen readers read it twice?
Only if the photo is on the same page; turn on Hide from screen readers then.
Where is alternative text set?
On the image in the Media Library, in the Alternative Text field.
Does it use gallery images?
No. It uses the main product image.
Product image alternative text plugin questions
Does it need Elementor Pro?
No. It works with the free version of Elementor and WooCommerce.
Where does it get its information?
From the Alternative Text field of the main product image in the Media Library.
Does it work in a product template?
Yes. Leave Product on Current public product and it follows the product being viewed.
Why does nothing show in some cases?
It stays silent when the information would be missing or untrue. In the editor a short note explains why.
Does it change the alternative text?
No. It only reads it.
