Say the page shows the Digital format first.

Show which option a WooCommerce variable product’s form starts with, from its Default Form Values, such as Format: Digital.
These are the actual published outputs of the widget for a sample variable product in the lab shop.
Product chooses the current product or a selected variable product. Display sets the attribute (or every attribute with a default), the text for each with {name} and {value}, a prefix and an optional icon. The Style tab covers typography, colours, background, border, radius, spacing, alignment, prefix and option colours, bold option and the icon.
When a variable product has Default Form Values, its form opens with an option already chosen, and the price and photo match that option. Shoppers can miss that a choice was made for them. Product default variation attribute says which option the product starts with, in your words, anywhere on the page.
